Hovding – a new type of helmet

Hövding is a bicycle helmet unlike any other currently on the market. It’s ergonomic, it’s practical, it complies with all the safety requirements, and it’s also subtle and blends in with what else you are wearing.

Hövding is a collar for bicyclists, worn around the neck. The collar contains a folded up airbag that you’ll only see if you happen to have an accident. The airbag is shaped like a hood, surrounding and protecting the bicyclist’s head. The trigger mechanism is controlled by sensors which pick up the abnormal movements of a bicyclist in an accident.

The actual collar is the visible part of the invention. It’s covered by a removable shell that you can change to match your outfit.

Indian Farmers Respond to Bribery Demands at Tax Office with Bags of Snakes

Two farmers fed up with alleged bribery demands emptied three bags filled with snakes in a busy tax office in northern India, an official said last week.

The 40 or so snakes of different sizes and species – including at least four deadly cobras – sent clerks and villagers climbing atop tables and scurrying out the door to escape the office in Basti, about 186 miles southeast of Lucknow, said Uttar Pradesh state official Ramsukh Sharma.

‘Snakes started climbing up the tables and chairs,’ he said.

‘There was total chaos. Hundreds of people gathered outside the room, some of them with sticks in their hands, shouting that the snakes should be killed.’

No one was bitten or injured in the incident on Tuesday afternoon, and police and forest officials captured the snakes.

The farmers had been asking for tax records for their land in nearby Narharpur village, but tax officials withheld the files for weeks while allegedly demanding bribes.

Sharma said their method of protest was unacceptable.

Police are searching for the farmers, who were identified as Hukkul Khan and Ramkul Ram.

Khan is known locally as a snake charmer.

Man Bites Into Chicken Wrap and Finds Himself Chewing on a Live Frog

One hungry diner was shocked to find a live frog inside a Nandos chicken wrap.

The horrified customer spat out the 4-inch long amphibian, but is worried that he may have eaten one of its legs.

Accounts manager Ross Dance said: “I bit into the wrap, but couldn’t chew through it. I excused myself and got it out of my mouth.

“There was a whole frog there. It was still alive. I felt really ill.”

Dance, 32, found the then three-limbed animal at the restaurant chain’s branch in Victoria, central London, and insisted on taking it home in a plastic tub.

Dance, from Crawley in West Sussex, added: “I think I might have eaten one. The thought of chewing on it keeps me awake at night.

“I don’t understand how anyone can put a wrap together and not see a frog. I’m livid. I won’t eat at Nando’s again.”

The South African food firm Nando’s, who gave Dance a £44 refund, said it was taking the incident seriously.

It said the frog must have hopped into washed and ready to eat salad leaves, which are pre-packed and provided by a supplier.

A spokesman said: “We take great care over the quality of our food.

“Unfortunately as Mr Dance refuses to give us the foreign object, we are unable to fully understand where it came from to reach a final conclusion.”

Customers have taken their shock to Twitter, with @SweetGirlNokz saying: “Nandos is a mess.”

The fast-food restaurant also caused controversy this month in Zimbabwe with an advert mocking President Robert Mugabe.

Woman Finds Dead Bird in her Salad

A vegetarian woman in Somerset had an unpleasant dinner time surprise in her bag of Tesco salad – in amongst the healthy leaves was the carcass of a dead bird.

Julie Flynn, a primary school teacher in her thirties from the town of Brimscombe near Bristol, was horrified to find the skeletal remains of a bird in her bag of Tesco rocket salad.

Her partner Paul Streeter told Bristol 24-7 “I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was horrific. Julia was seconds away from eating it,”

“The bird was emaciated and about four inches long. At first Julia thought it was a leaf and tried to separate it with her fork. Then she just screamed and went to be sick.”

The pair headed straight to the store to complain but were at first offered compensation in the form of clubcard points from the supermarket chain. After the couple lodged a formal complaint a spokesman from Tesco has since said “We are in contact with the customer and have apologised.”

Escaped Zebras Roamed Leesburg Neighborhood Yesterday

Yesterday, in Leesburg near Route 15, 2 zebras escaped from the Leesburg Animal Park Petting Zoo.

Workers accidentally left a gate open Monday afternoon, allowing the zebras to escape.

Sheriff deputies drove through the neighborhood to try to protect the zebras from cars.

Animal Control eventually used a tranquilizer to safely capture them.
