Motorcyclist Dies On Ride Protesting Helmet Law In New York, Because He Wasn’t Wearing a Helmet

Philip A. Contos, 55, was riding bareheaded in a ride to protest mandatory helmet laws last week in Onondaga, New York when he was thrown over the handlebars and hit his head on the pavement after losing control of his 1983 Harley Davidson.  He was pronounced dead later that day at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, New York.

State Trooper Robert Jureller said “the doctor felt that the death could have been prevented if he simply had been wearing a helmet . . .He hit the brakes, lost control, was ejected and struck his head on the road. He suffered a skull fracture.”

Krokodil: The Drug That Eats Junkies

The new drug krokodil, or “crocodile,”  is desomorphine, a synthetic opiate many times more powerful than heroin.

Korkodil is created from a complex chain of mixing and chemical reactions with household ingredients, cooked from codeine-based headache pills.  Thus, it’s much cheaper than heroin.

However, its poisonous ingredients quickly cover the skin with scales and sores.

Dead Body Undetected for 2 Days in Massachusettes Public Swimming Pool

A preliminary investigation shows “murky and cloudy” water in a public swimming pool helped conceal the body of a drowned woman for two days while people swam there, authorities said Friday.

The Bristol County district attorney’s office said the body of Marie Joseph was submerged at the bottom of the 12-foot-deep end of the pool from Sunday afternoon until Tuesday evening.

Joseph, 36, was a hotel housekeeper in Newport, R.I. She was from Haiti and had five children. Her body was discovered after it floated to the surface shortly before some youngsters sneaked into the pool for a clandestine swim Tuesday night.

Shark Jumps Over Surfer

Orlando Sentinel photographer Jacob Langston was out in the waters of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, making a video of a surfer when another surfer exclaimed, “Dude! Did you see that?!”

Langston’s focus was on his subject in the foreground of his camera — so he didn’t initially see the four-foot spinner shark jumping over another surfer in the water.

It wasn’t until he got back in the office and was editing his video that he realized he had captured the awesome moment in the background.

Mark Zuckerberg’s 8th grade Graduation Speech

Mark Zuckerberg gave a speech at an 8th grade graduation Friday in Menlo Park.

The theme was how to overcome, “I can’t.”

There are 3 ways to do this, he says.

1.  Everything that’s worth doing takes hard work.  There are no short cuts.
2.  Focus on building great relationships.
3.  Do what you love.
